    New Parent Counseling

Are you a new parent who feels overwhelmed, sad, or anxious? Perhaps you are experiencing the “baby blues”, or worry that you might have have postpartum depression. Maybe you worry that the baby is impacting your relationship with your partner.

It is normal for new couples to struggle with the adjustment to parenthood. Common complaints include:

    • “I am not sure I like being a parent. I miss my old life.”
    • “Why are other parents better at this than I am?”
    • “I have lost my identity since I became a mother.”
    • “I worry about everything all the time.”
    • “I know I am supposed to be happy, but I do not feel it.”
    • “Parenthood is putting a strain on my relationship with my partner.”
    • “I worry I may become the kind of parent my parents were.”
    • “I feel really alone.”

If you can relate to any of these common concerns, it may be time to consult with a professional therapist who can provide insight into stress reduction techniques, and coping strategies to help you adjust to your new role. If you are ready to envision the life you want, contact Envision Therapy today and set up your first appointment.
